Under her tenure as Medical Director, the Pikeville Medical Center Inpatient Rehabilitation unit received the prestigious Excellence through Insight Award given by Healthstream Research for outstanding patient service. Aspiring to have interventional tools in her vast arsenal to treat pain, she then completed further training in Pain Management at the Jackson Memorial Hospital/ University of Miami. Dr. Mina is a firm believer in a multidisciplinary approach to treating pain. She incorporates medical, interventional, psychological as well as rehabilitative strategies with the goal of restoring function and general well being. Aside from being a pain specialist, she is also well trained in performing nerve conduction (NCS) and electromyography (EMG) studies. She is also a certified prescriber of Suboxone for the treatment of opioid dependence. Dr. Mina is also accomplished in performing functional medical evaluations (FME's). The FME is a clinically proven test performed by physiatrists that correlates well with a patient's capacity to go back to work after a personal injury, work-related injury or auto injury. Dr. Mina co-wrote an article with her Anesthesiology professors at the University of Miami entitled, " Opioid Adjuvants for Multimodal Pain Management" which was published in the July 2011 edition of Anesthesiology News. |
